HEALING THROUGH PAINTING

On December 27, 2024, Daughters of Zion Women’s Alliance (D.O.Z.W.A.) carried out the first phase of the Orange County Citizens Commission for Children of Domestic Violence Mini Grant for 2024-2025 at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission on W. Washington Street in Orlando.  The event was epic.  We served 28 young people between the ages of 6 and 15 years old.  Our grant age group is between 7 and 17.  For our first session we offered a therapeutic, invigorating experience for the participants, “Healing Through Painting” that proved to be beneficial and valuable to the participants.  Of the 28 participants the gender were 10 male and 16 female.  The ages consisted of 5 participants 7 years old; 3 participants 8 years old; 2 participants 9 years old; 2 participants 10 years old; 2 participants 11 years old; 2 participants 12 years old; 4 participants 13 years old; 2 participants 14 years old; 1 participants 15 years old ; 0 participants 16 and 17 years old.  There were 5 children aged 6 years old that we seated separately and given a coloring activity.

 

Overall, the event was successful.  The youth had fun.  The intended target population and proposal goal was met.  Daughters of Zion Women’s Alliance is looking forward to continually serving the community. Our next event will take place in February.  Stay Tuned for a precise update.
